D'AGOSTINO
RECOGNIZED FOR SEEKING CHANGES, EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN IN LAW
ALBANY (June
12, 2008) — Mae A. D'Agostino, Esq. of Latham, a partner in the
Albany-based law firm of D'Agostino, Krackeler, & Maguire, P.C.,
was recently honored by Albany Law School with a 2008 Kate Stoneman Award.
Honoring the first woman admitted to practice law in New York state, the award is given
annually to individuals in the legal profession who have demonstrated a
commitment to ensuring equity and fairness in the legal profession for
women of all races, ages and religions.
"It's wonderful to be seen as a role model and mentor for women
attorneys and aspiring attorneys," said D'Agostino. "As the
first female graduate from Albany
Law School
in 1898, Kate Stoneman paved the way for others to enter into this
profession. Her efforts to seek change and expand opportunities for
women remain a great inspiration to all who seek to practice law."
D'Agostino, who concentrates her trial work in the area of defense of
physicians and hospitals, automobile accidents and work-related litigation,
has been tapped for her commitment to the legal profession on numerous
occasions.
Last December, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New
York and the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association
recognized her volunteer service as a member of the court's merit selection
panels.
In 2003, D'Agostino was inducted into the International Academy of Trial
Lawyers, an organization that cultivates the legal profession by promoting
reforms in the law, facilitating the administration of justice, and
elevating the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal
profession.
An adjunct professor at Albany Law School,
where she teaches medical malpractice, D'Agostino is also past chair of the
Trial Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association, and was
included in the 2006 Best Lawyers in America list.
She is a 1977 magna cum laude graduate of Siena
College in Loudonville, NY
and a 1980 graduate of Syracuse University College of Law.
D'Agostino, Krackeler, &
Maguire, P.C. was founded by four seasoned litigators in 1997.
Located in the The Sage Mansion in Menands, the firm has six partners and
two associates who have a mix of legal expertise and are admitted to
practice in all State courts of New York as well as the United States
District Court for the Northern District of New York. Its two
appellate partners, meanwhile, are admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the
Second Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. For more
